Two Sides to Every Story

Well technically there are three sides: 1) POV from person 1, 2) POV from person 2 and 3) the truth! The truth is usually ascertained by whoever is listening to these two stories.

The story of coronavirus also follows suit.

Story #1

Coronavirus, according to Britannica is “any virus belonging to the family Coronaviridae”. These viruses have RNA for their genetic material and tend to infect mammals such as humans and animals. The CDC notes that the ‘coronavirus’ name comes from the “crown-like spikes on its surface” and that human coronaviruses was first discovered in the 1960s.

Story #2

Corona, according to Online Etymology Dictionary, has origins in Latin, corona meaning “a crown”. Although Latin language is no longer a commonly spoken language today, Spanish (which has Latin roots) is. SpanishDict states that the word ‘corona’ in Spanish is used to refer to crowns (headgear and flower arrangements), wreaths, garland, dental anatomy and astronomy.

Story #3

This is the truth, which is whatever you deduce to be true! To you, will coronavirus be deadly virus? An interesting word in another language? What about an event that God can show himself strong in, protecting you? A little bit of all three? Maybe coronavirus will mean some entirely different!

There are a lot of things that we have lost control over like having large gatherings, hugging companions and eating in at our favorite restaurants. However, the one thing that is still ours (and will remain ours) is the ability to choose how we orient our lives and what we believe given the information that is available to us.

Praying for you and your family. We will not get through this…we have already gotten through this. Because Jesus already overcame the world including all sicknesses and diseases!
