The Warmth of Their Eyes

“And why couldn’t you focus again?”

“Because I felt the warmth of their eyes on me!”

That’s just a snippet of the conversations that I have with my 9-year old sister who has the mental capacity of a 19-year old! Make a long story short, she had trouble playing her accordion in class today, because she felt the heat radiating from her classmates’ stares. She continued to ramble on about what happened at recess and the book fair, but my mind had drifted off…

There could be unwelcome “warmth” in our lives just like my sister experienced. Maybe it’s stress from obligations or exhaustion from your days, weeks and months blending together. Your body could be aching or you might even feel forsaken. Those are Satan’s attempts to get us distracted and make the fight of faith uncomfortable.

For every word God speaks is sure and every promise pure. His truth is tested, found to be flawless, and ever faithful. It’s as pure as silver refined seven times in a crucible of clay.” -Psalm 12:6 TPT

What happens when God’s Word is faced with “warmth”? It becomes ever refined and ever faithful! There truly isn’t a better model of how we should react to the fires of life.

Another thing to consider is this: fires can only burn so long as an energy source is sustaining it. So, if we want a fire to snuffed out in our lifes, then we’re going to have to stop feeding it with doubt and fear. The only absolute extinguisher in life is faith!

Until Sunday,
