The Appointed Time: When it’s God’s Will but Hasn’t Arrived Yet
You are a awesome God and for that reason alone, I praise You, even when if I don’t understand Your Plans for my life.
psalm 75:2 niv
“You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.”
Equity…isn’t that what we all desire in our lives, especially when we are waiting on God’s Timing to present itself? I know that I have to catch myself sometimes, when I am thinking, “This isn’t fair. Why is this path that I am on? How can it be that I am waiting for things that others seem to already have?”
When we physically compare our lives to the lives of others, citing materialistic things or what we can see, we indeed find that it is not fair. Yet, God does not judge us in the natural but in the supernatural, spiritual realm. For He judges us according to Himself, Him acting as our measuring stick, since we are created in His Image.
What is interesting about Psalm 75 is its structure and author, Asaph (one of David’s musicians). The Psalms begins with praise, with, “We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds.” (Psalm 75:1), then talks about God’s Judgement saying, “No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another. (Psalm 75:6-7) and then ending with the mention of both praise and judgement, “As for me, I will declare this forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob, who says, “I will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.” (Psalm 75:6-7).
Is the wait equal for all in every situation? From a carnal perspective, no. However, when we put on spiritual lenses on and keep praise on our lips, we find that the fight for fairness is irrelevant to the bigger picture of what God is doing in our lives.
That’s a wrap for The Appointed Time Series, but the entire series will still be available on the website. No updates on the new series next week…we’re still working on it! 😉
And as always, I appreciate the support! xoxo
