reserved. I’ve heard this word in three different and completely unrelated situations this week. In a book, at church and in my spirit. Just like Satan can impart thoughts into our flesh, the Holy Spirit can impart thoughts into our spirit!
According to Merriam-Webster,
- reserved is defined as kept or set apart or aside for future or special use
According to Dictionary.com
- chosen is defined as
Now with those definitions in mind, read Ephesians 1:11-12 first, with the word ‘chosen’ and then second, with the word ‘reserved’.
“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory” -Ephesians 1:11-12 NIV
We make many choices everyday like which fast food restaurant we frequent while running errands. However, there aren’t many things that we make reservations, like the five star restaurant we visit in celebration of an accomplishment.
God didn’t just choose you, He also reserved you! Your place in His Kingdom can only be filled by you and you only! You weren’t an option, but a necessity. God’s passion for you was so strong that He simultaneously created both you and the blueprint for you life at the same time!
