“So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.” -Proverbs 4:23 TPT
During my wisdom teeth removal recovery last summer, I to fill a syringe with water and flood the holes left behind in my mouth, in order to prevent infections and bacteria buildup. Hygienic practices was definitely a must!
Syringes also make me think of our hearts! They too, absorb whatever we subject them to. Whether that be water and love or poison and hate…the choice is completely ours.
Our hearts are such precious commodities both, spiritually and physically speaking! They are pumping faithfully day in and day out from conception to death. Yet, in spite of being a strong muscle, it is still highly susceptible to negative thoughts, Satan’s lies and imaginary fear. Isn’t it ironic that we depend on our hearts to expel blood, while they depend on us to be mental custodians?!
Just as we sift flour, filter water or go for the cookie with the most sprinkles, we must also apply that same meticulousness to spiritual being! I pray that we will release the various obstacles and roadblocks impeding God’s Spirit and allow it to flow freely within our hearts…
