I hope you had a very merry Christmas! We are officially just 2 days from starting a new chapter in our lives…2017!
Last year I failed my New Year’s goal of losing weight and trusting God with all my heart, in which the latter should probably be a life resolution. Anyway, when I realized that it was November and I had not accomplished my New Year’s goals I felt like an absolute failure. But, then one night I heard Joyce Meyer, and she talked about how we may not be where want to be…but we surely aren’t where we used to be.
This message of how we are better than what we used to be is nothing new! But, how many of us actually apply that notion to our lives? Very few! When I started reflecting over my life I thought:
- No, I haven’t lost all the weight I wanted, but I haven’t gained any either.
- No, my relationship with God is not where I want it to be, but it is deeper than it used to be.
- No, I still become stressed out and overwhelmed, but it is not to the magnitude it has been.
Your life is different than mine, but chances are you can probably relate to at least one of the things that I am struggling with. Before 2016 ends and 2017 begins, I encourage you to give yourself credit for the progress you have made and leave 2016 with your head high.
Start 2017, not with failed goals in mind, but achieved progress. Think of yourself holistically as an imperfect person who is prone to mistakes, that serves a perfect God, who doesn’t make mistakes!
As this is Anomalous Darlings last post for 2016, I just want to say thank you all the support and love. I pray that 2017 will be your best year yet!
P.S. I chose a picture of ice, because water is left when ice melts. We all know that the amount of water on planet earth never changes, it just cycles through. 2016 is melting away, but the lessons it taught us are like water, they will forever be with us cycling through our lives!
