What an unlikely trio, right?! In the wake of Hurricane Florence and just the general pressure of life, I’m learning not to take life so seriously. This week has been so unthinkably crazy that I know only God can understand it and in that I find comfort.
Yesterday (9/19/18) @ 5:52pm
The university I attend has weekly Chapel and yesterday was my first time attending. I was understandably nervous, but enjoying the service until I glanced the room and noticed a peculiarity. The pews of the quaint Chapel were all filled, except for mine! Feeling a bit self-conscious I was like, “Um God, why is the pew I’m on, the only one empty?” To which God laughed and responded with, “The pew isn’t empty, it’s filled with you and your angels.”
Today (9/20/18) @ 2:39pm
I was leaving the residence hall trash can outside after dumping the trash from my dorm room, when I accidentally got the thumb of my dominant hand caught between the door lever. Don’t me ask how it happened, but I could go on and on about how much I have taken my thumb for granted! Try eating without that 3-inch phalange and you will quickly understand why God gave us thumbs! A few sutures and a tetanus shot later, I still can’t explain how it happened (and yes I am purposefully repeating myself).
On the bright side, there wasn’t many lonely or dull (needle pun intended) moments J. Hopefully, the lighthearted spin on the last 24 hours of my life made you smile or laugh in some way. We can’t control what happens to us; we can only control how we react to it.
What if God gave us mouths to laugh and hearts to smile, for not our best days, but the hardest?
Until Sunday,
P.S. I will be functioning with 9 and half fingers for the next couple of weeks, so bear with me on my grammar and photography skills!
Love it! Which school do you attend, Viv?
Yay, glad you enjoyed it! I attend High Point University!
[…] For those interested about the progress of my beloved right thumb…it looks like the sutures will be coming off next […]
