My mother always says that overly boisterous people are like empty wagons, as they make a lot of noises but are full of nothing. We all know that one person who talks over themselves ten times and lacks the credibility of 3-year old. As an observer, people like that always peak my interest. What are they lacking internally, where they feel the need to over compensate externally? Then with that same thought in mind, I watch nature and though bustling with beauty, the flowers and fruits of the earth, remain more silent than a scheming mouse.
1 Corinthians 13, along with Psalm 136 does an excellent job at informing us of what love really looks like. Love is patient, kind, not boastful, persevering and much more! In essence, love is everything that God is and everything that Satan isn’t! If you ever have a doubt about whether your actions, words and thoughts are or are not of love, ask yourself this: Who is going to rejoice in this, Heaven or hell, Angels or demons? Challenging actions, words and thoughts to that question will surely keep you in the light of love!
Awhile back, I promised a further explanation about how nature and our personal relationships with God are intertwined. Although, our bodies and lives are much more complex than that of grass and algae, we are still just as much God’s creation as they are. Psalm 100:1 is explicit in saying that all the earth should shout for joy to the Lord! Everything that God expects of us, He expects of them! I’ve never seen a flower boast about its radiant colors to another or droop downward on scorching afternoon. Even a grasshopper can get away from my inquiring eyes on his worst day!
No Christian can ever say that they didn’t have models of how to live in this life. From Jesus in Heaven to Jaguars in Central America, God has provided a plethora of support tools for us. Struggling to forgive? Consider Jesus on the Cross. Questioning God’s plans? Look at the red oaks standing tall.
When you look out to observe nature and up to regard Christ, you will always find love staring back at you…
P.S. I have to thank one of my earthly loves, my brother for lending his hand for this picture and angling it so that the sun could produce a rainbow…another one of God’s creations 🙂
