Loneliness Week 5: Submit to God & Serve Him

Loneliness: An Opportunity to Stealing Away With God

We were created to love others, to worship God and submit to His Will. Through our submission, we find blessings and receive the desires of our hearts.

luke 22:39-41 tpt

“Jesus left the upper room with his disciples and, as was his habit, went to the Mount of Olives, his place of secret prayer. There he told the apostles, “Keep praying for strength to be spared from the severe test of your faith that is about to come.” Then he withdrew from them a short distance to be alone. Kneeling down, he prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup of agony away from me. But no matter what, your will must be mine.””

Week 5: Submit to God and Serve Him

Your will must be mine” Are there any other four words that ring truer?

When I started this series, I had a heavy heart, grappling with a lot of “Why God?” questions. And those questions haven’t magically disappeared but I have chosen to take another perspective, switching what I want to what He knows I need.

Jesus was constantly in prayer, whether he was being praised by the people, chased by the Pharisees, betrayed by Judas or grieving his close companion, like John the Baptist. If Jesus, who was perfect, spotless and God’s Son needed regular contact with God, then us created in God image, as His sons and daughters need it too!

Personally, I believe that Jesus used his prayer time with God to process the life he was living, his impending sacrifice and cope. Those moments that he stole away in the morning or retreating to secret places at night were necessary trips for Jesus to connect to his lifeline, God and receive encouragement and peace.
