Intimate Intimidation

Intimate Intimidation

When you encounter someone who appears to be more accomplished than you or are faced with overwhelming circumstances, the feeling that typically arises is intimidation. Personally, it’s like experiencing the transmutation of my deepest insecurities internally become actualized externally.

Now who is there to hurt you if you become enthusiastic for what is good? But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness [though it is not certain that you will], you are still blessed [happy, to be admired and favored by God]. Do not be afraid of their intimidating threats, nor be troubled or disturbed [by their opposition].” 1 Peter 3:13-14 AMP

Whether Satan employs other people or our minds, the danger of intimidation is still the same. It’s crippling and paralyzing, just as intimidation’s evil twin, fear is. However, the good news is this: inferiority can only be permitted by us. The thoughts will come, but they can also leave just as they came.

I’m learning that I’ll never have life fully figured out and there will always be someone smarter, skinnier and prettier than I am…and that is okay. The lives that others lead have no bearings on who I am as a person and masterpiece of Christ. And if at any point I feel threatened by those factors (that I can’t control), then I can be sure that it is just a mere illusion, begging to be cast down!

Cheers to feeling not intimidated by others, but proud of who you are…a once in forever!

Until Sunday,
