Everyday is an opportunity for you to brighten someone’s day, lift their spirits and let God’s Light shine through you!
matthew 5:14-16 msg
“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”
Do you ever think of yourself as a light bearer? One that ushers peace and love into someone’s life or an atmosphere?
Well, you are! People that interact with you, at home, work, church, school, etc. are all positively impacted (hopefully) by your life and how you model God. The people you influence may never verbally express that to you, but you can be sure that God is working internally on them, in ways that you cannot understand or see.
Being a light bearer for God is not an easy task, it takes a daily commitment to “die-to-self” and a wholehearted love for God. He selected you and only for such a large responsibility, because He knew that through Him, you would excel! Doesn’t that make you feel special?!
Sidenote: Have you ever seen a flaming torch with a lot of bugs or people around it? Chances are that you haven’t and there are two reasons why.
- The heat given off, purifies the surrounding air, making it uninhabitable for some living things
- Too many people/objects surrounding a fire, decreases the oxygen available, smothering the flame
If people are entering/leaving your life and/or few people are present in your life, remember that you are a bright light bearer, one that God protects at any and all costs!
