If I had to definitively describe life, I would be at a loss for words! It’s clear at times and then hazy at others…
“I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.” -Philippians 4:12-13 TPT
I find it interesting that Paul mentioned experiencing lack first, and then his experience of “overwhelming abundance” second. It makes me wonder if dealing with scarcity made the surplus that much sweeter when it finally came into his life…
Would we recognize strength if we’d never seen weakness? Would we know love if we didn’t experience hate? Would we appreciate the good if we never ventured through the bad? Would we enjoy success if we didn’t have failures?
Although most of us don’t find the winter seasons of their life to be thrilling, we can all choose to let our spirits be warmed by God’s promise of a better future. Who knows, your spring could be bloom tonight, tomorrow morning or even next week and because of the trials you’ve been through, those victories will be that much more delightful!
P.S. Or maybe Paul just thought it would be more grammatically and psychologically correct to write his troubles first? Guess, I’ll have to wait until I get to Heaven to ask him for myself! 🙂
