Ahead

“Brothers and sisters, as I said, I know I have not arrived; but there’s one thing I am doing: I’m leaving my old life behind, putting everything on the line for this mission. I am sprinting toward the only goal that counts: to cross the line, to win the prize, and to hear God’s call to resurrection life found exclusively in Jesus the Anointed.”

Philippians 3:13-14 VOICE

Lot’s wife, is a popular story about the consequences of disobedience and dwelling in the past (Genesis 19). The angels who came to Lot, his wife and daughters told them to quickly flee the city of Sodom & Gomorrah and not to look back, because the city was about to be destroyed. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Lot’s wife, hesitated, looking back and was instantly turned into a pillar of salt.

In my opinion, women like Lot’s wife, Bathsheba and Delilah, often have a negative stigma surrounding. It’s true that they made choices that all had grave consequences, but the bigger question is why they made those choices. I think we can all sympathize with Lot’s wife. Can you imagine leaving your home in a hurry, only allowed to take the clothes on your back, and knowing that everything will be destroyed?

Lot’s wife did not know where she was going or what she was walking into. From a human perspective, this makes sense. However, the advantage that we have over Lot’s wife is that we have the Spirit of Jesus within us. We may not know what the next step is or even where to begin, but we do know that be that God is in control and is leading us.

With God as our guide, we can be confident. With our heads pointed toward Heaven, we know that the very best is always ahead!
